I have a question about changing jobs

Hello, I’m an 18 year old service associate at Walmart. I’ve been working there for 8 months and the manager has me training in other departments but now there’s a new Jiffy Lube job opening in my area and I would like to apply. I want to be an auto repair technician when I finish school so this job would be a good experience. I’m not sure if they will hire me if I’m still employed at Walmart. Should I quit Walmart first then apply or should I apply then quit if I get the Jiffy Lube job?

Don't quit until you have the job for sure then put in your 2 weeks notice.

I am in TN & I left from WalMart recently as a CSM. We had a gas station/store (Murphy's) right next door. A couple of my cashiers split their time with them & us. It worked perfectly for them. Plus they got in 40 hrs per week between the 2! Good Luck to you! Regards, Cheryl

Store Manager at Check Into Cash

Hi. I think the best way apply right now when you still working at Walmart. Such if you get job in desire place you wont have any gap like unemployed. Any expereince it is your experience which will help you in future no matter in Walmart or not. And if you get job just give two week notice. It is professional way to let employer to know that you are not availbe to work for them any longer.

Never jeopardize your independence. Secure your other prior to departing your current position. And be respectful in leaving by providing them with a two week notice.

Take care.

Cashier at Walmart

Apply to Jiffy Lube and when they are interviewing you, you just let them know that you will not be staying at Walmart if you get the job with them.
