Moving to Houston next summer.
Hi, I'm moving to Houston next summer and wanted to know what are some great fields to get into. I have been in banking for the last 10 plus yrs but want to try something else. I hear the hotel and restaurant industry is pretty good there. I do have a certificate in medical billing and coding, but I'm not certified. I was never able to find a job in that field after graduation. I don't want to get back to college, but I'm open to certificates or certification. Any advise is appreciated. Thx!

I stay in Houston Texas the medical field would be the best fit for getting in here there's plenty of hospitals here in the medical field is very demanding here in Houston and if you want to move somewhere you want to move to Katy Texas or Southwest

Taryn, The banking industry will thrive in Houston as well as Financial institutions abound there. I would consider the Energy field. Reliant energy employs thousands in the Harrris county region. I have both contacts and staffing recruiters available when you are ready. Here at VB Contractors we pride ourselves on the personal, one on one contact for job and career placement. Look forward to your responses.
Thanks,

better to move to Austin! If you are under 40 and are serious about banking or administrative positions, Austin is the place! It is shaping up to be the next Sunnyvale. Living is very good there.
Houston is the oil capital of the world. Lots of layoffs. Major Hospitals, always jobs at medical coding level. Big Competition for jobs!

Hi Taryn, I'm delighted to hear of your move to Houston. There are so many great opportunities, the greatest medical center in the world, and more medical facilities in surrounding areas of Houston, specifically Pearland, Texas. The hotel and entertainment industry is also great, with the Super Bowl coming in February, 2017. The hotels, resorts, Galleria, and River Oaks District are super locations.
Good luck and give me a call once you arrive.

Taryn,. if you would like a career change Southwest Airlines has a rather large credit Union there and it is a base city and it has a reservation center. You could be a flight attendant but you may live in HOU but you would be based somewhere else not in Texas. If this sounds good to you, Goggle Southwest airlines HOU jobs and see what they have open. Also HOU is the capital for banks. You shouldn't have any trouble. The best of luck. Lisa Renwick
