It Works, is it legit?

I'm Trying to get a job. I'm a unmediated narcoleptic because I can't afford anything let alone treatment. I have been denied SSI twice and unless I could see a neurologist or a sleep specialist I will be denied a third time. I can't apply for loans or unemployment benefits because I never had a job. I can't drive so that leaves me very limited to only jobs in the county I live in, not to mention the only public transportation is the school bus. Every job in the small town I live in aren't hiring or people are getting laid off; and nobody in my family is going to drive me out of the county so I can work elsewhere most of the week. I'm lucky to get out of bed let alone function.

I've communicating with someone who is a independent distributor for It Works and they want to have me on their team but I don't have the money to pay for a startup fee of $99. I looked up It Works on BBB and found information about it and went on their website and it seems pretty legit to me. The main problem is that I have almost nothing to my name but and EBT card so I have to borrow money from my family. They think it's a scam bcuz I have to pay for a startup fee so I am trying to do as much research on It Works as possible so I can prove that it's safe. I'm tired of relying on the government who have no interest in my financial struggles unless it benefits themselves and I'm even more tired of having to get the green light on everything from my family and they are inconsiderate most of the time and I have to kiss their ass just so I can get some of my needs met. I want to make my own money and live my own life. Isn't that what being an adult is all about. Sorry for the long post I felt like I needed the situation before I asked my question.

Does anyone know any legitimate work from home jobs I can apply for? I graduated from high school and have some college. Keep in mind I don't have any on the job experience and I also don't have a computer of my own. I can't keep living like this

SSI - Social Security Insurance - that's for persons who have worked for a very long time. You need to apply for SSDI - Social Security Disability Insurance. This is from your parents references, and will not have effect on their benefits. DO you have a doctor you are now seeing if not start and don't forget all of your school records from the beginning thru high school. Your local Social Security Office will have all that information. If you have already done this and were denied that's okay, go to the make an appointment and try it again. Is there anyone you can trust/support with this, hope so.

Hi Morgan! So It Works is an MLM company. In my opinion, MLMs (which stands for Multi-Level Marketing) are not really JOBS so much as they are opportunities. They usually require their members/employees to pay a monthly fee, or to regularly purchase the products they are selling. In my opinion, a company that regularly requires their "employees" to continue to give them money is not reeeeally worth it. In a real sales job you'd simply be selling items, not buying them first.

According to the 2015 It Works income disclosure (http://www.sequenceinc.com/fraudfiles/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/itworks2015.pdf), you can see that the MAJORITY of It Works consultants were only making $54/month! Only about 2% of their ENTIRE NETWORK was making what I would consider a living.

Some of the problems for MLM/direct selling involve the fact that you have to sell to your pool of friends and family and most people don't have unlimited of either. Not to mention that friends and family will usually buy in the beginning to help support your business, but might not continue to need or buy your products. So after a few months your market will dry right up, causing you to have more of the product than you can sell. But to continue to be a consultant, you'll need to keep buying the products, which could cause you to lose money on the whole thing!

MLMs CAN be a great opportunity for early adaptors and/or people with a lot of time and effort. However, for most people it's actually a loss in the end, when they realize they've got piles of products they can't sell, and possibly even having lost friends they've marketed to.

Admittedly I have a very negative view of MLMs because I've seen friends lose money on them, but I really do think you're better off holding out for a real job!

Here's a good article that highlights both the good and bad of MLMs: http://www.security-faqs.com/the-dark-side-of-mlm.html
