PLEASE THINK AND BE COURTEOUS

As professional drivers, our time is precious. It should never have to be wasted on others that are thoughtless or inconsiderate. There are a few things that drivers do on a regular basis that really need to come to a screeching halt.

  1. Please do not sit in the fuel island if you're not buying fuel.

  2. Please pull out of the fuel island when you've finished fueling so others don't have to wait while you wander around seemingly aimlessly getting coffe, scratching your backside, and the like.

  3. Please pull out of the lanes of travel to close your trailer doors or adjust your tandems. Check to make certain you're not blocking another driver or holding anyone else up.

  4. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE judge your load weight and equipment capability ACCURATELY when you move to pass! If it is going to take longer than 30 seconds to get around that truck or vehicle, wait until there is no one behind you (preferably for half a mile or more). It is no fun getting stuck behind 2 trucks when both are traveling 10 to 15 miles under the posted speed limit!

  5. And PLEASE, if you think we can't tell that you're on your phone texting or browsing as your tractor and trailer wiggle-waggles down the interstate, you are completely naive! Put that thing down AND DRIVE!!

Did I leave anything out? Oh ya'... Is the cigarette held in your left hand with the phone held to your head in your right hand allowing for adequate control of that 80,000 pound piece of rolling death? I'm thinking no!!

As an OTR driver, I see these inconsiderate and unsafe practices on a daily basis.

Let's all be aware, safe, and courteous!!

Thanks!

I have done my 30 after i pulled up after getting fuel but even that you have to consider are there other fuel spots open what time is it and is the place busy not all trucks need to fill up all the time so if it busy and you pull up to take your 30 you may be causing a problem for the next driver that gets behind you
