Career Seeker

Ongoing job hunt.

I recently completed my B.S. in Management Information Systems. I have found that in the area I'm in (rural) there's not much call for IT. So I branched out even applied for jobs that were more foot in the door less on the It side. I'm getting discouraged because I'm still getting thanks for applying, but we're looking at other applicants. Is it because my lack of work experience? I went to school full-time and took care of my special needs child. So my employment experience is too old to list. Also it has nothing to do with the field I'm trying to get in. I went to CDO work force. Made a resume, the woman looked it over even though she didn't have to because I'm not receiving unemployed benefits. Anything I can do? Change?

Hi Stephanie Lanfair ! I would definitely recommend visiting a private employment agency for IT and tech support professionals, as they'll have more industry-specific advice on how to construct your resume. I would also expand your search or consider options outside of your local area and think about the possibility of moving for the right position. This can be a hard decision to make, especially if you feel settled where you are, however more and more people have found the need in recent years to move in order to advance their careers. I hope you can get some more success with these methods!
