Executive Assistant

Frustrated and Very Upset That I was Scammed

I just moved to Las Vegas about four months ago and I have to say I don't know but to me, it's scam city. So far, I applied to all sorts of administrative and Executive Assistant positions and one Executive Assistant position claiming to be for the company DirecTV turned out to be a complete scam. I went to the interview, received the position, the manager told me he would consult the upper management which is located in Los Angeles as we were at one of the remote locations in Las Vegas of course, so they would get back to me by 4 p.m letting me know if I got the job. So I waited by the phone and sure enough by 3:30 he called me and told me they all agreed to hire me and to come in on Monday for training. I was to be hired as an Executive Coordinator for DirecTV hiring and firing the installers doing payroll, bookkeeping, accounting, and basically all the administrative work. Pretty much everything I've done my whole career. So I come in on Monday, the manager was 2 hours late for one, when he finally got there, we started training and the training was very suspect it wasn't really training I thought for an Executive Assistant. It seemed to be training for the installers. It was a program off the computer related to DirecTV installation of the cable boxes and pricings. I'm thinking to myself what the hell?? It was all the different price packages and just stuff that didn't have anything to do with my particular job at hand. But I went along with it because I figured ok maybe this is what I have to know. To make a long story short, this horrible supervisor told me to come in everyday at 9-6 p.m. M-F for training do you know he showed up the next day late again and then the day after he didn't show up at all. I was calling him and texting him. He text me and said oh just go to the office I will be there make sure you right your hours down you will get paid for them. I wrote them down. I did this for a week and a half until I got a text from someone claiming to be his wife saying he got into a car accident one day on his way back from the corporate office in Los Angeles. I've never gotten paid ever. He told me I was going to be paid $22.00 per hour with full benefits. The first day of training he was on the phone with some woman and he gave her my social and personal info just like you would at an orientation for a real job I spoke with her so I'm wondering who the hell this woman was. Now I'm constantly checking my credit report to see if anyone stolen my information. This has really been the worst thing that has happened to me out here. So be careful people if there is a man out here in Las Vegas named Aurelio from Angola or Nigeria claiming to work for DirecTV hiring an Executive Coordinator the address for the job is on E. Sahara or Anville either one I can't really remember he might have even changed it at this point because he knows I'm trying to track him down. Just be careful people!!

Wow, they had to have been trying to set you up for something. Why would they take the time to bring you in and pretend to train you. They may have wanted to get all your personal info, pics of you, etc. Keep an eye on all you personal accounts. That is so weird...

Did you pick up on anything suspicious when you researched the company before the interview? Best practice is to work directly with the company hiring and not a third party. Anyone can build themselves to look legitimate digitally and turn out to be a complete fraud. Sorry this happened to you but stay encouraged.
