Old man plays chess

We have a regular in our McDonalds that comes in on tuesdays to order a coffee and fries and sets up a game of chess. He plays against himself but always clears the board for when someone comes over to play with them. He’s been doing it for about a year now and it's honestly pretty cool. There’s a bunch of teenagers that will come in and he really talks to them and asks them how they are doing. There’s one kid Ameer who comes around just to play chess and talk about his life with him. He is really making a difference in these kids lives with nothing but a chessboard.

Thank you for sharing such a heartwarming story! As adults, we often forget that kids are just people with a longer road ahead of them. They're not all gang members, or strung out criminals, and most are respectful if given a chance. Your story is a strong reminder.

What an inspirational man to try and teach these kids life lessons and a game they may have never been exposed to otherwise. Thank you so much for sharing this with me, Ryan.

Man that is so cool. He's helping keep the kids off the street and exercising their brains at the same time. He must be one incredible guy to be able to do that
