need advice
I am going to apply for this job as an advocate they want my resume, cover letter and a writing sample. Would that be a hand written letter or how to deal with with ajob situation . I am confused.

Good luck

Google example of an advocacy letter or a letter written by an advocate

A writing sample is requested because the employer wants to know how well you communicate in written form. Many people do not come across well in writing which is a problem that's getting more and more troublesome for employers who need people who can write well. We have a whole generation in the workforce now that doesn't know what life was like before text messaging existed. Many people - of all ages - use texting over any other form of written communication! I certainly have no argument with the convenience of texting, but in 20 years of HR I've really seen first hand how much it has "dumbed down" written communication. People just don't write well anymore. It's a growing problem, so the recruitment ads I ran always asked for a cover letter that would serve as a writing sample. If that was poorly written (and so many of them were!), I didn't bother looking at the resume because the ability to write well was so critical.

It needs to be typed for professional look

Hello Karen, Not sure if you did this yet sorry for the late reply but just in case, I would write a letter possible showing your skills and knowledge of the position and an example of a scenario. They want to see how your communication skills and writing skills are because most likely your job will require documentation daily. Good luck!!!

Karen: I think you should be following directions. Hand written, and be creative.

It is a job as a patient advocate for people who are mentally or physically disabled . It includes children to the elderly, mentally disabled. You would be in charge of there care. I think it is like a guardian.

I'm not sure but never be afraid to ask them to clarify what they are asking for.

Hi Karen, Can you provide a little more info about the job so the community can better help you?
Typed letters are always better. If you don't have a computer and printer try your local library to get assistance.
