Is this really happening
I’ve been with a company for 4 1/2 years as a manager. I’ve been harassed most of my time working there. I’ve had false complaints made about me. I’ve worked in a hostile work environment. So I made a complaint to hr. After that my dr took me off work for a medical condition. They day I come back they put me on paid leave to conduct the investigation. And then I’m told I’m being terminated. How is this possible? If I didn’t complain and never went on medical leave I’d still have a job. What do I do now?

Anna, I have no doubt you will get another job soon, however, check out 2020census.gov. They are hiring until April of 2020. If I were you when I apply I would answer the 10 assessment questions at the end to ensure you will be considered for the many Supervisory positions that are available. TYJ

It is concerning your work and they look at you were not there. I fell sad for you.Your Supervisor did not stick up for you. Just find another job soon.

That is a wrong full termination go to the Eeoc. The government agency that oversees employment matters it's against the law to terminate a person the way they did you you can get reinstated also the right to sue them go to the equal opportunity commission in the federal building in your city or you can call them and the will instruct you what to do and pray and ask Jesus to lead you I always ask him and he always leads me the right way and causes Me to trump to win he'll cast you to win to call on him he'll comfort you and give you hope and peace brother jay o neal

It's not a good idea to complain.

You got that right! There are plenty of employment defense attorneys out there.

If you have an attorney FIGHT your ass off!! Do not let them win! You are in the right.

I am currently dealing with the same situation. 2 days after they put me on paid leave they terminated my brother as well. It's called corporate bullying. I have a harassment, retaliation and discrimination case against them with tons of evidence including texts from my district manager regarding numerous things as well as emails. I have filed a case with the EEOC and have hired a lawyer. My brother has a seperate case of retaliation but we are not letting them get away with this. Fight for your rights!

You have been labelled as a whistle blower. If it was going on for 4 years you should have said something before now.

Hi Anna, I went through something very similar that I endured for about the same length of time. I was a school business administrator, I was the one who was dedicated to my work, was friendly, etc. Then my manager hired on a new office manager. She turned out to be a master manipulator...she actually convinced most of the staff and several of our families that I was trying to take her job. I had no idea this was being said about me...mind you I was the business administrator, which is at a higher level...why on earth would I want to step a level down?!
She created a very hostile environment to where I felt completely alienated, hated and despised for no reason what so ever. Since she had been working on this for several weeks, I had no idea until I did feel the disdain coming from others directed at me. I was literally thrown off wondering what was happening. I kept thinking..."Is it me? Did I do something?".
Eventually, another employee came up to me one morning and asked me why I was trying to take the office manager's position from her. I was floored. I looked at him and said I was definitely not interested in doing that and where did he hear that from?. He told me that she had gone to him and expressed to him that I was showing signs that I wanted her out. I am a senior, I have worked my way up from a teacher to administrator without any hand-outs...and I had never in my career been faced with such a juvenile accusation. I was fuming.
Everything came together...why I was being treated poorly, why I was left out of meetings, why someone delivered a gift bag in my work email box with nothing in it while everyone else had a treat inside. It was ridiculous.
The Solution: I didn't want to help this organization any longer, they didn't deserve my knowledge, expertise and dedication. They instead, allowed themselves to be manipulated instead of including me in on her concern which would have been the correct way to address this.
My suggestion to you: plan your departure. Start seeking a new place to work because the battle against ignorance is futile, you can do better.
I gave my resignation a year in advance to help them find a replacement and I offered to train that new person. I left to save my dignity and sanity. I am glad that they are all working there together, they deserve each other.
Good luck to you.
