It's hard to start over after 50

I had no idea the challenge I would have going back to work at 50.

yes it is! I'm currently looking for work while doing some temp jobs, and it seems companies want to hire the person who will accept the lowest pay. I'm struggling to find work in my field that will pay me what I've been normally paid at, and some want to pay as low as $15/hr here in Connecticut. Now that's a struggle! But I don't let that get me down.. keep going, keep trying and stay aggressive!

One thing I've learned in my recent struggles...starting over is definitely better than "OVER"! It will be okay. Don't give up.

Brenda, I'm over 50 as well. It took me six months to finally land the job that works for me. There is definitely age discrimination out there but it is very difficult to prove. You just have to keep at it. I know, easier said then done, but if I can do it anyone can!

Being out and around others, regardless of what you do, is important. Just get started doing anything, then it will be easier if you want to do something else. Getting started is the hard part. And, don't expect to make what you did when you were younger. If you do make good, count it a blessing. Think of the work you are doing as a "Free" day at the gym...you're getting a workout and you're getting paid for it!!!

What challenge? This is not about age or sexism. This is about you experiencing what every one else does, going up against hundreds of people better qualified or experienced for the same role! You are going to get knocked back feel demoralised we all feel that! Keep going

If youve been out of the office a while, theres quite a learning curve. They have been changing alot.

Most important thing, keep training to learn more skills. Skills turnover is one of the biggest problems and becoming a professional student will slso slow down the aging process (Its true! Check for yourself)
