What do I do now
My grandma used to tell me This too shall pass" ,I always believed that ,but right now I feel I am at the end of my rope . For most of my adult life I have been it the safety valve industry I know nothing else .every where I try for work they say I dont have the experience needed yet they hire kids right of of high school.I understand helping kids out I really do I have kids of my own but what about the people that already have experience working what are they supposed to do.I am a 39 year old god fearing ,blue collar worker with nothing but a beat up chevy ,fishing pole, and a few guns .I dont want much out of this life just for my wife and kids to be happy and mayne a few grand kids someday ,but right now I dont see it ,I dont feel it .I probably sleep 1 or 2 a night then I wake up in panic attacks and haft to try and hide them so my family does not panic with me . So I ask all of you what do I do now .

You have to keep faith god is good he sees everything. Give your problems and worries to him

First, you are not being realistic. Do you know that 50% of the kids that apply for jobs in engineering/technical jobs can't pass the drug test? So, be clean. Secondly, it is about attitude. You know a lot more than safety valves. You can read P&IDs, you understand safety codes, etc. How many guys can't do that?

Hi Eric,
I feel your pain, I am 35 and when I left the world of teaching I kept thinking to myself "What happens now?" I knew I wanted more for myself but I wasn't sure what that meant. I had bills to pay for school, a car, food, life. You are NOT alone and many people have been there before you. I am so sorry this is a difficult time for you as well as your family. I would suggest talking to your spouse as I'm sure they would want to know what is going on and if not him/her then friends. It's good to let things out and not bottle them up.
So with that being said, let's make sure your profile on here is filled out. I would love to help you search for some other jobs, but I am not sure what experience you have. Your experience doesn't necessarily mean you are stuck only doing that job. You can take what you've done and bring it into a totally new career.
Message me with your skills and I will be happy to help. In the mean time have you applied for unemployment as well as attended any workshops on finding jobs? I know my friends have been to a few and they were very helpful. Also search for jobs on here, if you apply and they say no apply to 50 more. You just have to keep trying and stay positive. Push any negative thoughts out of your mind and attract the positive. I try to do this because I too have suffered from anxiety and it's tough!
Keep your head up Eric we are here for you!
Hi Eric, This is very frustrating to say the least, but don't give up! I would definitely start by completing your Jobcase profile so that potential employers can see the full scope of your experience. Also, make sure you're really reading all job descriptions and the required experience. Sometimes, in the excitement of applying to jobs that look appealing, we forget to take a minute to really read the full description and apply for jobs we're not experienced for. Best of luck!
