Why would someone who successfully completed 410 probation in Illinois still show up as a convicted felon on a background check

I was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, and was offered 410 probation. Being that it was my first charge and I didn't want a felony conviction on my record I accepted the plea of guilty in order to obtain 410 probation and keep my record clean after the 2 years of probation was completed. Since that time i've been fired from many jobs and have been rejected after many interviews without an explanation as to why, until this evening. I was told by a potential employer this evening that they just received my background check in, but because I have a felony conviction my application has to be run through the h.r. office before I can be approved for hire. This has been very upsetting for myself and my family and has been placing a lot of strain on my relationship with my fiancée and I because I haven't been able to hold down any significant form of employment. If someone can please help me and send me in the right direction I would be forever greatful, I thought this was something that had been put behind me when in fact it been holding me back all this past year without my knowledge.

Same thing happened to me and it's BS because nothing in the Illinois Statue for 410 probation (720 ILCS 570/410) nothing says you have to to have it expunged for it to be off your record, which in my state Illinois, cost $160 to do nor does it say in that Statue that you may be required to provide a drug test for the expungement which would cost me $150 to get. All it says under (f) of the Statue is "Upon fulfillment of the terms and conditions of the probation, the court shall (which means MUST) discharge the person and dissmiss the court proceedings against him or her." !!!

Go to your local court house tell them your story and you need to see the judge to ask for it to be cleared for record.... This will work

Brendann, it is possible that employers are only finding your arrest record which shows you were arrested for a felony not necessarily convicted though. Since you completed your probation successfully you should look into having your record expunged that way your arrest records will not show up during a background check. Also in your spare time google yourself and see what comes up and that will give you an idea of what prospective employers may be looking at that is causing them to reject you. I went through this with a good friend of mines. Hope this helps and good luck to you.

No problem, I was with some so called friends one night and end up getting locked up on drugs and open liquor but it was my first offense but the judge like the friends you hang out with is no friends of yours because we tested your unrine there was no drugs in you and no alcohol in your system, the judge gave me 30 hours of community services n $100 bail lol
