Phlebotomy job search
I am new to the field, fresh out of a program and I am waiting for my license to come through the mail. I already have my certificate in hand. I started applying to jobs in my area and I am still looking for an opportunity. The job websites can get frustrating, so I've been told to go in face to face. Should I still do so even without having my license in hand? Will that be a factor working against me though, not having my license in hand like I do my certificate? This job search has been the hardest one I've ever done.

You can start talking to people before your license comes in, but just ensure that you have; your transcripts just in case someone can higher you without the license. Research medical staffing agencies, call/ go to hospitals, seekout clinics too! Hopefully you had to complete an internship/externship so you can put that down as experience within the contents of your resume. Social services. Com is mainly for those whom have degrees and maybe those who are certified. If you didn't complete an internship, I would try to volunteer at the red cross or anywhere so you will be able to fulfill the necessary required criteria of needed experience that is requested by most employers.

Hi Leah, Congratulation on completing the Phlebotomy program. The details are in the job description! As a recent grad with little to no practical work experience most of the jobs you might qualify for may not require a license in hand to get hired. That's information you can find in the job requirements section of the job description. If you don't see a license requirement then submit your application and follow-up after you apply, in person.
I suggest you start introducing yourself in person ASAP. Perhaps your transcripts etc. and personality will impress your interviewer and thusly spark your potential employment in the near future...Good luck, Mark
