Appealing my unemployement again.... sigh
I wont go into the whole story again as I did last time on here, but my former boss is appealing my unemployment again. He appealed it last time... even though he submitted the appeal late. Then he did not show up for the first appeal hearing (by phone). I know WHY he didn't show up. Because as his personal/executive assistant... one of my jobs he tasked me with was researching stuff for a bachelor party that he was throwing for his best friend. When was the bachelor party planned? The day that the hearing was. It was an all day thing he was doing. So, yes it would have interfered with the hearing. Should I call the judge and tell them that? Now he his going to claim that he did not get the paperwork in time. But he filed the appeal on 12/5. And the original paperwork that said that I had filed for unemployment went to an address that they USED to be at in Houston. But when then file the appeal... why would they not have changed that since it went to the wrong address. I am just frustrated that this is being dragged out further. twice he did not comply with deadlines (filed the appeal late and did not show up for the hearing that HE filed for). Any suggestions? Personally I think I will win the case because he changed the reason he fired me from "it was not going to work out because of her skills" to making it sound like I was not doing my job and just sitting eating bon bons, watching you tube and filing my nails. This was his response only AFTER he got the decision that I would be awarded unemployment since it was not my fault I it was not going to "work out regarding my skills". I have been an EA for over 10 years and would still be with the company I was with in 2008 had they not had a RIF. My 3 bosses (regional VP, General Manager and Operations Manager) that I reported to were VERY angry when the decision came down from corporate that I had to go. I know I am a great EA. I know I do my job. I am just getting very discouraged.
Hey Cindy, I'm so sorry you're going through this right now. I say if you know why he couldn't attend the hearing, you should be upfront with the judge. The employer isn't looking out for you - why should you look out for him?
