Landline Phones and Work at Home Customer Service Jobs
I no longer have a Landline Phone, let's put it this way I have a two line phone but I can no longer afford to keep it active, I own a cell phone in applying for Work at Home Customer Service Jobs, why do companies including Technology Companies, such as Amazon, Apple, Enterprise require you to have a landline phone, that has discouraged me from applying for a lot of WAH jobs.

Apple definitely requires a landline phone as does concentrix and sykes also. IDK about the others.

Also most wifi providers will "throw in" the landline phone at a discount or no cost for those few that do still use a landline phone or just want to have it for emergencies. i didnt even know my landline phone number until I started WAH, but it was part of my package and the cost was the same with or without it so I took it. Nearly scared the life out of me when it rang for the first time and of course it was some solicitor. Go figure.

Actually, the majority of WAH companies require you to have a landline phone because information sent over the internet is "not secure." Even with anti virus and all the other software available, Hackers and other thieves can get the information that is sent over an unsecure phone line. They can also reroute calls customers make to the company and send them to a different number, so the customer will think they are talking to Wells Fargo, for instance and be talking to a thief and give them all of their information. So basically, it is for the security of their customers. There is also the fear of cell or mobile phones to drop signals or calls and loss of customers and business. Another thing is the fact that a cell phone allegedly can be put in any name, while a landline phone usually is in your name and the bill will go to your address, so in the event of any funny business the company will be able to track and find you. Of course, nothing is fool proof so people do find ways around this. Like 5 years ago you HAD to have a desktop, now a lot of companies are allowing you to WAH using a laptop computer. So its just a matter of time before these companies realize that a mobile phone is just as reliable as a hardlined phone. But, if you are interested in jobs that dont require a landline phone, visit these sites workersonboard.com and dreamhomebasedwork.com. I am not, I repeat AM NOT endorsing or verifying these sites. I just came across them and spoke to some people. Be VERY careful. DO NOT send anyone any money or give them ANY bank or financial information before checking them out. Some of them may charge for a background check, which is common for WAH companies and some may even charge for training you, but any other monies requested, or any request to deposit a check into your account or send money thru Western Union, I would suggest you check out the Ripoff report.com, the BBB.com and Glassdoor.com. See what the people have to say. Now granted some of these complaints may just be disgruntled employees, but most are accurate and legitimate. You be the judge.

The majority of WAH customer service jobs don't require a landline because they use VOIP (voice over internet protocol). The calls will come through your computer connection using a software program (usually Cisco). I worked in a Xerox call center doing customer service and while I was there we transitioned from phone lines to VOIP. Xerox diverged and their customer service division became conduent.com. They've closed down a lot of the call centers and are hiring WAH and the majority of these jobs are using VOIP. It isn't perfect because if your internet goes down, so does your call with the customer but this is why you need good internet speeds that are reliable.

You do not need a landline to work for Amazon from home

They like for you to have a landline Plain old telephone because customers would be calling that specific phone NON STOP not a cell phone .. they dont want customers to be able to leave messages... customers dont need to call your cell phone .. cell phone is for your personal use. And the connection will be more clear for a landline.

Not totally sure but maybe it has something to do with a better connection?
