I have a question.

Is it possible to not get hired by a new job because of a old job? Like can a new job find out what happened at your old job and denied you because of your past job? I only ask because I think that is what's happening with me and my husband.

Yes it can happen so if you had bad blood or things went bad at your last job don't put them down

Most employers can deny you after they find something discriminating about you and tell you they denied you for other reasons. I think if you are completely honest and up front you will have a better chance. Good luck

It depends. If you're in Florida, you're screwed! Florida is a "right to work" state, which means that either you or your employer can terminate at any time without warning or reason. Unless you have an ironclad contract, you can be here today and gone today. Some states don't allow that, but Florida doesn't care about working people. Check your state statutes.

Yes an old job gone bad can cause you problems, if you tell the truth and have a changed heart you will do much better. If you lie just think you are in a interview with God because a lie will find you out. The way you walk and talk will get you the job as long as Gods laws is your main way of life and the walk you live.

What you can do is get someone else to call them and act like an employer and record the call thear are good apps for the smart phone for this and if they say anything keeping you from getting a job you have a lawsuit by law they can only say that yes you worked yes or no on are if they will rehire you that's it

Legally you previous employer can only confirm that you worked there, for what length of time and in what capacity. If they choose, they can say good things about you. But they CANNOT in anyway shape or form say anything bad about you, legally it is slander and if you can remotely prove it, there are lawyers that will take those cases. Any decent hiring manager know this as well, and will not ask anything beyond what is legal. They will listen to what your previous employer says if they offer more, but cannot or should not use that info in evaluating a candidate. This is why normally you are asked to provide references, these people can be and will be asked about you as a person and your performance on the job.

Depends on where you live and who the company is. Some states have it illegal to give anything other than dates of employment, others with a rehire statement. Technically it is illegal to explain or give information that is detrimental to getting employment.

They can and in many cases the old job can be sued. The most they can say without being able to be sued would be yes, he worked for us. No, we would not hire him back.
