Workpkace Favoritism
I would like to see how many people have experienced workplace favoritism.? Example: I worked a job for years and was asked to learn a new duty and still work the other duties I had. I was trained for a month for a few hours each day, during this time my duties/workload TRIPLED for about 2 months with the new duties and mind you this is a fast paced, stressful job with a boss that like to hover over you and nicpick over any tiny detail. The lady that did this job before me only had two duties, while I have 4 plus learning the new job and her workload was VERY light. Now someone else, (the guy over me)has been doing and learning the same job (why do they teach me and not the supervisor first?) and the workload went back to being very light. It feels alot like the last job I had too, they jus pIle on the workload hoping to...what? Give you a nervous breakdown? Now I am not a lacker, and I was born with a disability and have good work record and if there is work to be done I get the job done, I try to look at is as a good thing, but can't help but feel that I am being taken advantage of.

Dana,
You not being a slacker is exactly why you have a heavier workload. Leadership gives the work to the people they know will get it done.
You are simply looking at this the wrong way..
Dr. Jonas Salk, who created the vaccination that eradicated polio, said:
"The reward for work well-done is the opportunity to do more."
I have had my current job for 16 years. My boss and I just never clicked. I don't personally like the way she treats people but I have always have done my job. I genuinely get along with all of my coworkers and I feel as if she Envy's that because she doesn't know how to connect with people. She volunteered with young single mothers being a mentor. Well she hired one of the mothers that she has helped find her a home, co signed for a loan, tells her what to do with her money. Obviously crossing the line between employee and employer relationship. Well the company is currently downsizing and we were all forced to reapply for our own jobs and low And behold she got my job! After 16 years of busting my ass! I lose my job to the bosses charity case! Now I have to find a new job after thinking I was going to retire from this place! They offered me another job on another shift but I don't know if I want to work for a company who has allowed this to happen to me! I don't know how to move on from this but I know that I have to provide for my family. I don't want to go back because I am so mad but I need a paycheck! Any advice??
