Good day to you Ms. Parker..... I'll try to give you help here. I can only speak for Georgia.... First MA front office is transfer to just medical assistant. See the trained MA like me can do admin and patient care. It saves the doctor money because you are not needed. Not only can I bill, code, create the super bill, answer phones....... insurance approval, collect payment.....etc...... but I am able to operate the X-ray, draw blood, give injections, operate EKG, process lab work and report......etc...... I tell you that its a money saving thing. Now here in GA. it has a positive effect on the pay. $16-$19 hr. is starting off with the certificate or diploma. The associate comes in at $22-$26 hr. in some places here. The medical assistant is a total package now. Tech jobs are going the same way. Lab tech., ultrasound tech., monitor tech.,....OR Tech......all MA jobs. It's taught in class today for the medical assistant. Now try the major hospitals or nursing homes. Rehab center still use that specific job description. VA uses it. Sorry that I don't know anyone in your area but this was my best.......

Question, what kind of position are you looking for? I have colleagues who work in the field in the clinical testing realm. You need certifications for specific positions etc. Are you a scientist? Chemist?

May be there is a volunteer opportunity at a hospital you could fill so you can get your foot in the door. 9 Health Fair also is a volunteer opportunity. I am not sure it is in your state but may be similar health fairs are or clinics. Mission trips too that work primarily in medical clinics may be another way to get started.
