PTO DAYS
I've worked for Burger King 18yrs, from crew to Management. Our store was bought by a new company, I went from 5 weeks paid vacation to 1 week. Now that they passed this new law that they have to give us PTO days they took that 1 week vacation too. An we cant take the PTO days when we want with pay, their giving us a bonus on our hire date for the PTO days. Looking for a new job, time for a new start...feel like I'm being screwed after all these years!!

It's what they do. You can't even begin to imagine my delight when corporate asked me where the hell did all of the restaurants money go to. it seems that the franchise owner took the Burger King profits from the seven restaurants that he owned and decided to open up another business totally unrelated to fast food called Houlihan's. You want to talk about a Supreme Screw job and not being even so much as kissed we weren't allotted paid vacations from his financial dealings the Burger King chain we ended up pulling the dead weight of Houlihan's we were Houlihan's only source of support our equipment would periodically go missing how in the world am I supposed to get the Friars filtered when the filtering machine is nowhere to be found in the restaurant the restaurant manager of Houlihan's commandeered it so I am the boss of the bosses within the organization in case you didn't know the chain of command the crew leader is the store managers boss I ended up firing that bI had a hell of a time with that franchise owner when the state came in to inspect I couldn't believe the rating just one point of having the restaurant declared unacceptable it was horrible opening those doors at the fry station and I've got 10 in of old grease just to hang in there the filters hadn't been cleaned since the building of the building you have no idea how disgusting it is to inspect the milkshake machine only to discover that that is where the Cockroaches decided to build their nest having to deal with a customer who's got a complaint with its food you couldn't begin to imagine my horror when it was discovered that an employee had taken dead flies out of the electronic ultraviolet fly trap put it in the eggs and proceeded to make sandwiches with that contaminated food. It got to the point that emotionally I could not deal with one employee more or seem that I had a long line of idiots jerks assholes incorrigible all wanting to be in the service industry. And some of the companies marketing campaigns I had to put a stop to their dollar Whopper sales. I sat down with them I showed them the cost of what it takes to make one of the Whoppers they are losing $3. 79 on every freaking Whopper it's a wonder why when it came time to pay the electric bill delivered there wasn't the money to pay the bakery those assholes created such a f** huge problem I had to go beyond my business framing to keep it that restaurant open and running cuz what I was looking at was over 45 people headed towards unemployment because of the mismanagement of the franchise owner to some I was the savior to most of the others I was the biggest prick that they had ever met so I ended up throwing in the towel you're not going to work with me you're causing more grief and aggravation and wanting to drive the restaurant into the dirt have it your way I'm not going to fight with you and the first restaurant they lost was at the sunset Esplanade mall in Hillsboro and then it was one after another after another corporate asked me would I please come back I'm good at what I do I was the company man I was the one that they looked forward to showing up and making things all better for them and I told corporate I said nine times out of 10 times the problems are simply for the fact that they do not follow the protocol of the operations manual talk about holding up speed of service the one assistant manager felt that the order number was cold and impersonal that the staff should know the name of every customer that comes up to the counter so what that jerk off implemented was after the order was placed or its name so that you could say mary your orders ready talk about having writer's cramp by the end of the lunch rush I was so not amused and I called him out about it it was dude do you know how many sales you had for lunch didn't have a clue everyday averaged close to if not over 560 sales and he's got the balls to insist that the employees take the name oh hell no company protocol was your order number is and that was the only thing that was to be announced order 76 it's ready but because of the changes you made to the business you drove it down even further even deeper but you never figured that those of us who were dedicated would ever throw in the towel and simply say f*** it I don't get paid enough for this goddamn aggravation of theirs. welcome to the reality of my world these days I am a part-time Deli clerk in a major chain grocery store I don't have to deal with the idiots every longer life has become good for me as I hope it will for you also.

it was fun working for Burger King.

Aloha Michele Unfortunately that is where the franchise part of the industry is going as most franchisees cannot sustain the benefits package that corporate can. My suggestion to you is to try to transfer to a corporate owned restaurant in the area. If all restaurans are franchisee owned in THE area you can find out through your Area manager if one or more franchisees own the area stores and then contact the individual franchisee HR to find out about benefit package and inter franchise transfers. If all else fails you may need to think of another national chain to work for. Just make sure to check on if the place is franchisee or Corporate store. Good luck

Hi Michelle I also worked at B.K. Part time,Nights I worked and received many hours,
