Food Service And Dietary Aide at Southwest General Hospital

Was delivering a tray to a patient the patient literally threw the tray towards my direction saying that that's not the correct order I said sorry and told him I'll go back and be sure you receive the meal that you ordered got the correct tray delivered it said sorry once again also sorry for the miscommunication with the dietary aide who took his order down and later that shift was approached by the gentlemens wife she said sorry for his behavior and replied that's our job to provide quality food service to our patients even if we have to go out of our way..

While poor behavior is unacceptable, sick folks do not behave in a well way. A poor situation should have been left at work. It was drama until you posted it to be so. Food is comfort, and a hospital stay can be very uprooting and scary, especially when no one knows what’s going on. Keep your head up, and go the extra mile to ensure your patients get what they want and you won’t come across these road blocks. Before placing tray go over what you hold in hand with patient. This should nip that in the bud. Have a great day!

There is no excuse for that kind of behavior! You handled it well, but you are not responsible for dietary. On more than one occasion I have informed a patient that their behavior was unacceptable. I left the room after informing them that I would be back in a few minutes to see if they were ready to talk about the issue rationally. I usually get an apology. I tell them that I did not take it personally, I understand their frustration, now let’s calmly find a solution. But sometimes, no matter what you do... the patient isn’t happy. Did you inform dietary of their error?

My father was in a nursing home for the last 3 years of his life. He punched and fought with staff members and other patients. At one point they had to put him in a straitjacket. Sorry for what you experienced.

Well is ok to know and acknowledge there was an error made but the patient shouldn't have reacted that way, im sorry but should of reported that patient to ur supervisor and made him apologize for his behavior. And yes we should provide quality food but we should not be kissing no ones behind just cuz he is the patient. Sorry not sorry.

OK you don't have a car there is public transportation out there now you have uber and lyft to take people where the need to go. I remember when I didn't have a car but I used the shuttle from work back and forth until I got me my own vehicle. After I got my car the shuttle for work stop and now other employees who use to take the shuttle now have to make alternative arrangement to get back and forth to work. So if the job is on public transportation(BUS LINE) used it until you can afford to get a car I did you can too.
