Entering the non-union workforce.
I have been a union electrician since I graduated high school 18 yrs ago. I've been very lucky in the fact that I never had to travel to find work, I was always home working or living on unemployment when the work dried up. It is going to be a life shattering culture shock to work in a non-union environment. I am not looking for work as an electrician since I am not allowed so I know I'm in for a pay cut, I will be able to handle that but I don't know if I will be able to survive the environment itself. I was wondering if there's anyone else out there that has been through this same scenario and if you have any tips to help the transition.

Hi Nathan: Your post definitely caught my eye. Just a couple of questions out of curiosity - why is it that you can no longer continue to work as a union electrician? And are there rules that block you from being an electrician if you leave a union?
