Property Manager
My career has included Warehousing, customer service, and related fields. I recently graduated with my Bachelor's in Property Management in Salt Lake City, Utah To clarify, this is property as defined by the FAR part 45, not the real estate version (my associates degree). I have struggled for some time trying to find a position in my field, are there ay tips available to help?
P.S: yes, i have searched under my field and desired title, only to get no leads that are non real estate.

You might try looking under a different title. This sort of job is often listed under fixed assets, inventory, purchasing or procurement. Though for fixed asset managers, they are often looking for an accounting degree. Have you tried networking with the NPMA?

Hi Patrick: Thanks for the clarification! Have you tried checking out property management associations in your area, or joined any nation-wide chapters? I think my advice still stands in that joining a professional organization is a great way to meet other professionals in your industry, as well as create the kind of connections that can be mined for a new job opportunity. Have you check out this group yet? http://www.npma.org

Hi Patrick: Thanks for posting to Jobcase! Have you thought about joining a realtor or property management association in your area? It's not a direct way to getting a job, but the key here is that you can start networking with professionals in your industry who might want to work with you. Networking is everything these days - so there's a good chance you could get a job this way! Also, try applying for jobs as an assistant property manager - a lot of apartment complexes and government organizations look for assistants. It could be a good way to get the experience you need so you can climb up the property management ladder. Hope this helps!
Hi Patrick: Look up community associations institute. They represent all community association across the us. There are chapters in most states. They may have a job/career link. Deana Luchs
