Not a job, but a start.

Just wanted to post recent developments. I passed all the entrance exams for I-Tech Health Sciences, and was accepted to the LPN Program. I have most of the tuition paid for through FL Career Source, and am expecting the Federal Pell Grant to pay the rest and help with out of pocket expenses. I am still looking for a weekend job, but will not worry about that until my 13 months of training is finished. I have been facing a lot of obstacles, but have jumped the hardest hurdles. If anyone is looking to go back to school, don't talk yourself out of it. I am 42 and hadn't been in school of any kind in twenty plus years. Retirement age is still far enough away that I have a good many years of work left in me, I would rather work those years in a diversified career where I could never get bored. Nursing is not for every one, but with a little thought and a great deal of determination, you can find a niche that will provide financial stability and mental satisfaction. Preparation is the key to success for older students that may have senior moments, I studied with the help of study guides around sixteen hours a day because of the closeness of my exams. Depending on your time constraints, you can adjust accordingly. Check with the financial aid departments, fill out your fasfa, check local community job centers, and go for it. It can be difficult, but it will be worth it.
