Unsure....

Hello, I just need some advice. I work at a great place with great people but there is one lady who suffers from bi polar disorder unmedicated. My husband and two children came to visit me at work and she flipped out per her norm at everyone in the office and in front of my kids. She is very dangerous and unpredictable but sometimes she can be really cool. My husband fears for my safety after witnessing what she does and I have to admit I am a little nervous myself. I do not want to leave my job but with my concerns of safety I feel it may best to protect myself and leave until things are taken care of properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

It's unfortunate that this woman doesn't take her medications. However, you are probably not at risk. Your boss is probably very aware of her problems. Because we have to deal with difficult people sometimes, you may just have to take a "wait and see" attitude. I would document anything that concerns you in case you need to do anything more. I suggest that she may have "flipped out" due to the stress of having strangers around. Sometimes those with mental problems can't handle strange situations well. When you say that she is dangerous, that concerns me because no one should have to work in a dangerous environment. Be sure, however, before you say anything officially that this is really the case and not just your fears taking over.

Don't leave a job that you love. You may not find another one that you like as much. This is her problem, not yours and this is a matter that your boss and HR should be handling.

Hi,if she is that unpredictable your boss,or your manager need to be aware of this.don't just walk off,do you chain of command everything fast you must do than call and ask labor board what can you did and not loss your time you put in there and if you must leave you will get your unemployment, don't let ignorance stop your growth with this company. The very way to fight ignorance is with intelligence.

I would be concerned if I worked on the same team or in the same area she does but your more familiar with the surroundings and your level of comfort in that workplace. Find another job if you feel your safety is at risk.

Pray, express your concerns with the manager ( email and keep your proof). If she does anything to hurt you physically get a lawyer ( request a free consultation), and have your printed out proof) print it out as soon as you recieve a response, even print out your email before you get a response. If you express your concerns, I think the company should be obligated to ensure a certain amount of protection. Sue them if they dont! Pray!
