
How can I get my resume past the online application round?
I need help to overcome the initial automated evaluation employers use to screen applicants. I know that I’m a qualified candidate that can WOW employers face to face if can figure out how to get past this obstacle reach the interview round.

Hello Mayb u can email the employer directly if u have his/her email address or U can apply on the job site not through a site posting the job bcause some of the jobs ask u to upload or post ur resume first on the direct job site HOPE THIS HELPS

Write a "mega resume" with everything you've ever done in your career, 6-10 pages. Keep a resume template with headers, education, etc. Copy and paste the parts of your mega resume that match the job description into your template and you have a much better chance of getting past the ATS. I would list jobs relevancy in order as they apply to the position you are trying to obtain and also include a cover letter the is specific to the job. You can find examples online

Hi, Don-- I don't know if programs check for spelling, but I know quite a few managers are partial to spelling résumé correctly (as opposed to "resume," which is a verb); several have said on LinkedIn they appreciate applicants who take the time to proofread their cover letters. Again, don't know if software looks for that (I imagine it's customizable, depending on how particular the HR person is) but it can't hurt and would at least make your cover letter stand out.

Make sure it is in a word format not PDF – most of the ATS systems don't read PDF. Make it straightforward without boxes. Plus, I've been going directly to the HR person at the company via LinkedIn. Sometimes they even leave a personal email there, I always follow up that way!! I also research the website to see staff contact information. Use LinkedIn to find out if there's anyone you know at the company or has a connection another way – that is valuable as well. Always remember there is so much room for error on online job boards- i've had experience where the job posting wasn't canceled after it was filled!!

I found the trick to getting interviews was to have my resume keyword optimized. Employers receive so many resumes that they use filters to weed out the unqualified candidates. I answered a few questions about my skills and ambitions and was partnered with someone who knows the industry and key buzzwords. Yes, it costs, but it's worth it. For 6 months I couldn't get an interview. With the edited resume I've hd an average of 2-3 interviews a week.

I remember reading something years ago about putting keywords in whitish ink on a resume so that they are not detectable to the eye, but to an automated system scanner. I don't know how you'd accomplish this, but it seemed interesting.
