Didn't work out

I was working for a temp service. For a distribution center. For almost 6 months. They never complained about or anything. Until one day a manager came up to me and let me know what I did wrong about stacking product wrong. OK the next day my temp service call me and tells me I was let go. I asked what the problem was she just said they sent her an email stating that it just wasn't working out. So after 6 months it didn't work out really. I think they just didn't want to hire me permanently.

Yes you can collect on a lay off from a temp job! I've done it multiple times.

I fully agree with the others. You were getting near the end of your probationary period and they created this excuse for not hiring you. They used the pretext of incorrect product stacking as an excuse for termination. This is what they do. They can also make up things like not returning at the correct time for lunch break. All these are pretexts invented by the HR department. Move on. They are corrupt.

Unfortunately your probably right...its a win win for the company because they have no liability to pay taxes for you and the temp service gets paid well for your work...its sad my friend and this kind of thing seems to happen more and more these days...job market slavery. ..sad but true....we need more rights when it comes to matters like this...i would recommend that you try to get into a company directly rather than temp services if your wanting a longterm job...good luck my friend and i am sorry about your loss:(

That is exactly what it is . So if you work for temp agencies do not go in with the expectation of becoming permanent. Just be your best and do a good job . You will get hired somewhere because your a good worker.

it's a temp job. shrug it off. if the current temp agency has not hooked you up with a new employer start putting in applications with new temp agencies or full time employers.

X MASS is coming and most of the distribution employers in town are hiring right now,,,

Quit licking your wounds and get off your butt and start putting in lots and lots of applications. Make hay while the sun shines.

Some people are not aware, but if your paycheck was coming from the Temp company, that employer was paying them a higher hourly wage to use you. Should you try this again, be sure to ask around with other employees how they got their job. If no temp jobs have become permanent, expect the same.

Of course that's what it is. Be true to you... You shouldn't ever work for someone more than three months of a probationary period.. Period. Hope you didn't give them your all

Sorry you found out it's a dog eat dog world. People use people for their financial gain. Not everyone is like this. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off. go out there and give it another shot. As for these greedy dogs I believe what comes around goes around. Good luck my friend..

There are a number of reasons why this did not work out, and the truth may never surface. One thing to take away from all of this, it is temporary employment with no guarantees to becoming permanent. In a small percentage of the cases, the company will hire the temporary worker and that is negotiated upfront. The one reason why companies contract temporary workers is to get them through their peak periods and it’s easy to terminate their services. The other reason is to see if it will fit their financial projections. Owners, executives and managers are never willing to reveal the honest truth.
The thing to remember, you performed admirably for six months, you gained some good experience and exposure. In a temporary job setting, you have to maintain your job search for permanent employment. It’s easy to give up on your employment search when there is hopes that your temporary assignment will turn into a permanent position. Perspective employers will come to you early on if their intentions are to hire you on as a permanent hire.
Unfortunately, you have experienced the unsuspecting practices of this employer. Go out and find an employer that will appreciate you, your talent and hard work.
