How long can a job drag out your termination

My job of 7 years is under a review for termination that should take less than a week but it’s been 4 weeks , in the meantime I’m to go to work as if it’s not happening or not get paid. For the first weeks I did just that but soon My anxiety could not handle it lots of insomnia and stress headaches. I’m not fired but not working. This process has been executed in less than 2 days I’ve never heard of beyond 1 week.

Because in my opinion, they really have nothing on you, they are searching for something, do some research, good luck

Something is odd here. Most places don't give NOTICE that they're terminating you. I'd go as far up the chain of command as possible, and do some questioning.

By not going into work, you are literally making their case for them. You will be terminated under the no call no show category. Which is also known as a cause for termination. With no chance of receiving unemployment benefits. It is disgusting that companies play this game but they do it all the time. They are doing the time game, making your life miserable so you quit. Also no unemployment. Even in any state that is the so called At Will states companies have to have a reason to terminate employees, and it has to be for specific reasons, like bad attendance, poor performance, given a chance to improve and did not. Or employee willfully did not follow orders, got in a fight with others employees and so on. I know it can be hard to show up, when you know the termination can happen at any time. But when you crumble under the pressure, they win 100%. Because even in looking for another job, someone will call the company and they can legally say whether they consider you rehireable or not. Best of Luck.

If you’ve done all you could do then I would suggest just keep doing it. If they truly want to let you go unfortunately they will. In my old age and years I’ve realized one thing, my stress isn’t worth any job because for most companies all it is to them is revenuing money, and that’s why I’m going to end up damaging my health...no way, Jose!!! Hope things work out for you. Remember, they aren’t thinking twice about your health so I wouldn’t give them your thought or stress!! #notworthit

It sounds like a layoff, not a termination for poor performance. The company probably isn't doing to well and is trying to simply eliminate your position to save money on payroll expenses. Just work until the bitter end! If they lay you off... So what.... they lay you off. Then you can draw unemployment until you find a new job. Don't sweat it! I've been laid off by two jobs that went totally out of business, and had my position eliminated at other jobs, because they wanted to save money. But, because I was a good worker, willing to stick it out until the bitter end, the companies that just simply eliminated my position, were willing to move me to other departments to take different jobs with the same company. Sometimes they keep people as long as they can, and just keep moving them from one department to another to fill positions that haven't been eliminated, yet. And sometimes, they lay you off, immediately. Just go with the flow.

It's not officially a termination until they stop paying you for your time. Until then, it's a performance review.

Once they actually stop paying for your time, at least in California, they must have your final check/wages available to provide to you. This does include compensatory time off.

Currently looking for work

What do you mean " I’m not fired but not working. " Does that mean you quit your job? Or does that mean you just decided not to show up and just go back when you want? Aside from that, IF you decide to continue working at this job until your fate is decided, I would surreptitiously look for work while you're still working and go on interviews during lunch or after or before work until you get an official hire letter then LEAVE!
