Any Advice For 19 Year Old
So I’m a 19 year old male who graduated high school last year. Just can’t seem to figure out what I want to do. I am working a full time job currently at a hospital as a transporter and try my best to be the most satisfying employee there. Any advice when I’m not sure what career will fit me? I hated high school and school in general and could not really tell you of one trade I’m interested in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You are my sons age, try military. He joined the navy

Life is getting harder. Imagine someone without a degree. To me Going to school is an obligation if someone needs a better future , it is not a choice. You are only 19 year old you have to go to college. School does a lot for me. I am a foreigner and came to this country at age of 33, speak no English, but I had a BS degree in accounting in my native country. After few months living in US I went to school to learn English and work in the afternoon, then admitted to a sunny school. Now I have a degree and earn approximately $80,000 a year. Without a degree I can't make that income. Man You are so young, go to school to have a diploma

Several people have suggested going into the military. Not only will you learn skills, get yourself organized, and have lifetime benefits to varying degrees, but they will do a battery of tests to find out what you're good at. Do some research to decide which branch you want to enlist in.
(I'll put in a plug for the Coast Guard, because they're egalitarian with respect to gender and mostly stay guarding the USA... and protecting the US is what I think our military should be doing. There are some overseas posts, but not as many as other services.)
Alternatively, contact your state Jobs Center for similar help. Not quite the same, but they can guide you in finding out what your interests are, some of what your strengths / skills are, what jobs might match your interests, etc. This might be a better first step.

On your spare time, consider college, technical or a vocational school. As a retired Educator, furthering your education helps enhance your social and cultural lifestyle.

Carson: Congratulations on your recent graduation from High School. In all seriousness - I will tell you honestly - you are at a most critical point in your life. The choices you make will weigh heavily on the rest of your life and your success. If I had it to do over...wow....I would do so many things differently...I feel certain you have heard that before...if you have or if you haven't, listen carefully because this is very important.
In today's world - "getting in the door" is determined by a college degree and/or as many acronyms as you can possible fit behind your name. Competition with other qualified candidates is fierce...and you need to have at least these items to be "asked" to come in for an interview. What I am referencing is salaried positions that will come with benefits and an opportunity to advance. Perhaps retirement? That's iffy.
If you are happy with hourly wage jobs and that is what you are seeking, it will still be tough if you do not have training or something that is more special that the next person.
Best advice: If you have a passion - no matter what it is....go to school, pick up some credentials and make a career of it. I know you said you don't like school - however, I think if you are working towards and with subject matter you love - it will be different....whatever you do....make it be something you have passion for and love to do...There are far too many of us who have settle for jobs "just to pay bills"...now here we are 20-30 years later miserable. I do applaud you for reaching out to us for guidance....please listen and take action. My absolute best to you! Stay in touch!

You should have some idea on what you want to do

I agree with #StephanieK about you still figuring out who you are at your age. We all went through with that. But I suggest strongly that you go to some Meetup meeting if available in your area, about professional networking people talking about their careers and disect all the information gathered. Ask questions about their careers and advice that they can give you. Go REI clubs, as you'll meet a lot of professionals that goes into real estate investing, or clubs that interest you. Network with them, find a mentor in life and profession. Good luck!

Carson Lambert Ask yourself what are you passionate about? What can you see yourself doing? And make it an attainable goal to make it happen. At 19 - you're still figuring out who you are in life, right now focus on this job. Maybe you want to go to college? Community college part time? This job might allow that with a flexible schedule. So think about it, set goals for yourself and be proactive in achieving them. That way you're not 39 yrs old and asking yourself the same question. Good Luck
I would seriously consider a trade and go to a trade school your young snd have your whole life ahead of you.
