Backing out
I interviewed for a job 3 weeks ago...they hired me a week ago but they still can't give me a start date. Meanwhile Im stuck in limbo with no income. Would it be ethical fpr me to tell them Im not waiting any longer and they can go string someone else along?

I’d call HR and find out what the hold up is. Be assertive, pin them down. In the interim I’d start/continue to seek other employment

Maybe you can give them an orange. Might remind them do you want to work for them. Otherwise, you could apply for a few other jobs that way if the one job doesn’t work out, the next one probably will.

That's why I hate doing stuff over the internet

I don't think so, especially since it's been a month. They can not expect for you to become homeless waiting on them, if they're saying they're hiring they should be able to have you start within a day or so. I hope it gets better for you.

If they can't give you a start date after 21 days of waiting, think of what it must be like to work for them. I'd keep it moving.

Keep looking

don't stop looking for jobs

Keep looking and if something else pops up, you have two options to choose from.

yeah i lost job due to a head injury. was hospitalized for a week no no one will hire me.
I have e-mailed HR and texted them. They keep changing my start date. It was September 10th. Then it was the 24th. Now it is the 30th. I have another interview at another place today. I am not going to place my faith in this company getting their act together. If I get this job, I am politely going to say I had another offer somewhere else.
