Salmon, ID is three hours away from any major shopping or major medical facilities. If you like getting away from the busy city life, Salmon is a great place to have an outdoor adventure. You can deer and elk on any given day. It has a beautiful river you can jet boat, canoe, and raft down. The river has an interesting history. Salmon does have a few great eating establishments. It is a great place to hunt and fish.

The nice thing about working at the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District is the variety of work that you do. It never gets boring. You do office work, however you also mow the lawn, help paint the outside of the building, set up new office spaces for temporary employees, serving folks at the community dinners, working at the Forest Service fair booth and much more.
