I would explain your situation thoroughly and honestly and explain that you would like the job first applied for. That the position you originally applied for not only gives you a job that your good at but it also gives you the time with your family. And i believe anyone with a family would understand that if they do. Just be honest with them. Have a blessed day.

You have the dilemma that many parents today have. Having raised two kids into adulthood, I suggest you take the job and grow. When you have a chance transfer to SFS. Usually jobs close to home come with a big salary cut. I took a $2000 a month pay cut to be close to home, and my kids went off to college 150 miles from home.

They might have filled the SFS position internally but like you and so they are offering you the position in Torrance. Honestly, it’s not that terrible of a commute. I commute daily to Santa Monica from South LA. Sounds like you’re being offered 10k more, so isn’t that worth the 45 min commute? It’s tough living out here and many employers are offering very low pay so I would say take it and transfer to SFS in time. Did they make you the offer in writing yet?

Hi, It appears like the other position is already filled, they don't close positions typically until they are, so it seems like it's not the right fit for you. Kudos for getting the job, and keep trying until you get there job that is right for you!

Hi H Nunez, If you’re going in to the new job with that mindset, maybe you shouldn’t take the job.

Hi H nunez - I would be careful about how you talk to them about it. You can center the conversation around work-life balance, and how it is a priority for you with a family. I don't see a reason to not disclose kids, as it seems like it is a full-time job, in which you would get benefits for, and those typically change based on your marital status.

Do you have any advice Patrick Coppedge ?
