Age a problem
I have been applying to countless numbers of food and beverage jobs. I have been a food server for over 40 yrs. I am 63 look like I’m in my 40’s and can work any 20 something ya old under the table. But not one hit to interview and I think it is because of my age. I’m beginning to feel like you don’t get a job unless you know someone. Very discouragingly

I am having trouble finding an Rn job. Have 37 yrs experience. Am 59 but don't look it. Hard worker. I think she has something to do with it

I try to advise fellow jobcasers,,on the importance of applying for a job in person.. Online just doesn't work...Try to remember that a employer has only one question in mind,,,will this person be a liability or an asset to the company ? Always apply and appear in person ,,,and woo them over...It works...best of luck....

Had the same problem. Try temp agencies. I proved myself and was asked to join the team. Keep yourself young at heart.

I've been going though the same. Lot of logistic experience not in my 60's yet but can't seem to get back into my field. Since May I have applied for over 120 positions since May some positions had been posted twice. Had good phone interviews as well as promising face to face. With 20 years of military experience and 18 years of manufacturing I wouldn't have never though it would be this difficult. Too old to get back in the work force and too young to retired. I'm lost!!!

i know the feeling. 54 but I look in my late 30's early 40's and yet when i apply at places like Best Buy or Target, i get nada...age discrimination. Those jobs are missing out tho- our generation has a better work ethic than young people today....i don't like doing Uber or Lyft that much. planning to start my own business soon

You are correct. That person you know, knew you when you were younger and worked somewhere else. It dosent matter if you look younger, when they ask your birth date or straight out ask how old you are, they begin to look at you as a feeble person, slow moving and thinking and if you make a mistake they look at you as if it were expected. I know that feeling. Once you have retired from a job it is hard . Just remember, Steve Harvey said it best , GOD AIN'T THROUGH WITH ME YET. So hold on all is well. May the peace of God cover you kick that dirt off your feet and keep it moving. Much Love God Bless

Look up senior service employment agencies in your area. Also have tried Indeed.com? I also feel like I've been discr against due age. Good luck to you!

Exact same problem gonna be 50 look like I'm 30

I agree with you. The sad part is you have to be 62 greatly retirement and yet you won't get the full benefits nor medical. Real sad
Don't loose hope. There are still some managers who give value to older workers. I agree that your best chance may be to apply in person. Go after the lunch serving and check out the ages of the workers and if there are at least some older ones you probably have a better chance.
