Job Duties vs Job Qualifications

What’s more important on a resume job duties & responsibilities or qualifications? I’m trying to update my resume using the keywords on the cashier job application for home depot. There’s a of job duties job qualifications on the job description with active keywords but I’m not sure which ones will actually stand out on the online application to get managers attention. Which one is more important to have as an applicant?

A lot of companies are now using software to scan the resumes for key words (power words) that fit what they are looking for. In some cases the resumes won't be seen by human eyes until they've met a certain percentage of key words on them.

Lamont: look at their job description and fashion your resume to those skills too. Try to get your resume sent directly to the hiring manager, and not just the general mailbox that is HR. You could call up ahead of time and just say, you are checking the manager's correct name spelling and his title. You can also see when he is in and go directly there to see him with the resume in hand.

Sometimes it pays to be more creative and aggressive when you want that job. That is a good place to work too. Ever try Lowe's too? Good luck

Both are important to employers. Get in a mix or figure out where you can combine the two so they fit on your resume.

I agree. The responsibilities help you understand the job functions but the qualifications are what you need to bring to the table as an applicant.

Qualifications are usually the requirements you need to meet to be considered for the job and more important than responsibilities on the resume.
