Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner

Persistence and prayers

I recently have become unemployed with all the stress and anguish that comes with it. I am a certified psychiatric rehabilitation practioner and behavioral health provider that is having to utilize the same therapuetic interventions that I once provided to my clients. I was diagnosed with cancer 3 weeks before my contract ended and wasnt reinstated. How am I going to have the energy to live when everything I have is going toward survival in its purest and rawest form. I'm up against a rock and a hard place in the dark blindly trying to find my why out of this mess.

I can’t begin to understand how hard it is to be dealing with a life-threatening illness in the middle of unemployment. To say that I’m sorry would be an understatement, because it’s so much more than feelings and emotions for you. You are operating in two different realms of survival, the realm of having the money to support yourself and the realm of simply surviving through this horrible illness. I won’t direct you to a silver lining because a simple change in perspective isn’t going to change your circumstance.

You are in crisis mode and you can’t do this alone. You need people. You need friends and family who can hold and support you. I understand that you are practiced in being a person that others lean on for support, but now it’s your turn. Please accept help and support from those who love you and other professionals who will be much better equipped to psychoanalyze you than you can yourself.

Accept help from the many organizations designed to help people through life-threatening illnesses. I’ve posted some below for you to consider. I assume you may have some in mind yourself. These may, however, be a good place to start.

American Life Fund Cancer Financial Assistance Coalition Cancer.net Financial Resources Page CancerCare Financial Resources Page

Please let yourself be carried by others, at least for now. It may be an unfamiliar feeling, but it’s exactly what’s going to help you survive these circumstances.

All the best,

Laila
