Teaching to fish (or, you can get ahead -but it always takes work!)
Most of us know this saying below. I believe in it very much and could probably write about it for pages. But for starters, I'd like to point out an aspect of this that is so very true in worklife.
It is not my experience that anybody gives you anything or does the work for you. But just a little bit of effort - consistently applied - can do wonders for yourself. This is especially true if you have the tools and guidance/advice/connections to make sure the effort is applied in the right manner. Thats a big part of what Jobcase is trying to do for everyone!
At the end of the day - you must take control of your own career-pathing and occasionally your own jobsearch. The Jobcase platform should provide awesome tools, great leads, job listings without ad-clutter, profiles that are promoted to employers on your behalf, GREAT people to connect with for leads/advice/guidance, etc. etc. But at the end of the day, each individual person must ask the question, apply to the job, followup, plan for the future, and execute on those plans.
I think this is great actually. I think this puts you in control of your own situation rather than giving someone else control of your life. But it also creates responsibility for you.
I thought to clarify this point this morning when reading some messages from a few Jobcasers (if you haven't checked out our internal mailing function, do so now. It is pretty sweet!) I get a few Jobcase-mails each day saying "just give me a job now" or something like that. Part of me wishes I could ease that pain and just do that. But mostly, this community, this platform, help unlock your own power- the tools to manage your worklife, and the people to best advise you, are all here! This is good news really - this puts you in charge! But, this also means you need to take advantage and drive your own search, and your own worklife advancement.
We'll keep evolving the platform, increasing tools, curating information for your ease of access, and grow the community so you have more and more people to help you succeed - however you define success in your own life. You can do this! You have help here at Jobcase. But each of us needs to move the needle for our own worklife at the end of the day. Each of us needs to do a bit of our own fishing.....
This is a great message Fred. thank you
