Your Day 13 Challenge: Overcome a Job Termination!
Job terminations happen - but how do you explain that in an interview?
If you’ve been fired or let go in the past, use these helpful hints to overcome it during your job search:
Don’t put that you were terminated on your resume - that hurts your odds of getting an interview
Do be prepared to talk about it during the interview
Don’t bash your ex-employer. Instead, make it seem like a friendly parting of ways
Do move on from the subject!

What do you put down on reason why you left if not termination

Being let go "for cause" is always a bitter pill to swallow. Being an Employee at Will gives you and your employer equal opportunity to part ways, with or without cause. My advice, learn from/reflect on the experience, be honest with yourself and during the interview process, and if asked about it remember that "less is more". Transition into something like "this is why I see your company and the position I applied for as a much better fit with my skillets and aligns directly with my strengths". Good luck!

Terminated after 19.5 years as a firefighter because I made a comment on a viral video from Facebook concerning police abuse of authority. It was concerning a police officer in a different state. Now that's a pretty difficult one to overcome.

i am looking full time job i have 12 years experience in the gulf i now English and Aribc

Would you leave before a company could terminate knowing they are building the case to eliminate you? Without another prospect lined up?

I agree with so many of you in how unfair some supervisors are. I was told that I was going to get a part time assistant and needed to train him in what I do so he can help me out. Well then I was demoted and that eventually made me leave the company once I found another job in the field of my experience. In this case how can the department of Labor help me . I was not fired and my job was getting done and there were no faults in my record. Many times I did think of calling the Department of Labor but wondered what they could do for me. Now I hear that they are not happy with the person that took my place and regret letting me go. But I would not go back even if they call me. May be pride but they really hurt me when they demoted me.

How do you explain that you had to leave your job because your supervisor suffers from mental illness and made your life so miserable that you had no choice but.to leave. Constantly be told your worthless and she Wil not stop until she gets you out of there. No reason at all for her to say that. And there is no fault on your part. The company knows she is mentally ill, but allows the erratic conduct from her anyway.

Win u are terminated from a job what do u supposed to put on any application

Be sure to distiquish between being terminated for performance and your Department or company being shut down by a corporate descision.
Richard M, thanks for your warm and thoughtful comments. My comments were about my life experience of never being terminated from a job and your experience is your. If viewed from a negative perspective, then they would seem intimidating. I am sorry the comments are insinuated I'm a robot. I remember receiving my first social security statement, when I was in my 20's. It has a statement that said, " work to build a secure future, because it would not be enough money to live on when you retire.... It also suggested to have other sources of income to make sure you have enough money when you retire. I said, if govt is taking money from my checking without authorization, I need to listen at what this statement says, and plan my life accordingly. I've worked for several supervisors doing my career... and recorded the good traits mentally, which assisted with not being terminated. I agree, times have changed, and jobs aren't plentiful as they use to be. Here's a quick example: if this country is receiving millions of imports and not exports as much, the jar is going to fill up fast and someone's hours going to get cut, lose the jobs, and eventually... business will close. Many U.S. companies moved the business in countries with cheap labor, manufacturer products overseas... ship them back to U.S. forsale.... look at your clothing labels. Lastly, if the wages were reduced in the U.S. of high salary employees, many people would have jobs. President salary $400k per year... dean of a college $600k, CEO's millions per year. You be the judge. Wishing many blessings Richard as every day is a new day, God bless you and thanks again for your thoughts.
