I have been looking for more work opportunities myself and have seen a lot of Internships available (some paid and some not) on many of the big job hunting sites, like Moster, Glassdoor and Indeed.com. Maybe you are already searching there, but I thought I would mention that. Many people might not expect to find internships there, but I have seen a number of listings. Some (I'm in Los Angeles) were for some big national brands.

My advice... Start freelancing. Get out there and hustle and go do real work for real people for real money and fill your portfolio with a whole bunch of diverse design work. Now, internships can really help you if you want to work in a SPECIFIC industry (entertainment, fashion and so on). However, I have interviewed designers that had portfolios that were full of a whole bunch of work for just ONE client. The one they interend at... I also would suspect that (since they were obviously part of a creative team) that THEY didn;t do all of the work in their portfolio, anyway... Even if their work looked great, and they assured me that they did it ALL, it made me wonder how they were going to handle working with us at my last job, where we had to manage projects for multiple brands, without already having that experience?

Hi Shelby, welcome to Jobcase! If you are looking for a graphic design internship, I would suggest talking to your professor about any opportunities that may be open. Alternatively, you could speak to the career center at your college about obtaining an internship. Good luck and hope this helps!
