Luck with Recruiters
Does anyone have any luck going through employment agencies? They post jobs up on all the major job sites. They call you on the phone and then they ask for a face to face. They speak with you 10 mins hand you a card and ask you to call them in a week. Wasn't I applying for a specific job they posted to fill? Am I getting the brush off?
Not all agencies are like that. Those that do that are simply building up their database of candidates so when they are trying to get new positions to fill they can present candidates right away. Depending on what field you are in I would look for an agency that specializes in placing people in your field. Remember that the agency works for the company that has the open position and not for you. Don't expect the best customer service.
Bill, you have to develop a relationship with that recruiter. Unfortunately, if they have an interest, they are going to call. If you are looking for a temporary position, then you need to call and make sure that they know you are available. Before leaving, ask the recruiter what the next steps are and hold them to that. You will know if they have a real interest by how they answer that questions, and watch their body language.
