You should try searching the word "Cover Letter" on the Internet and then build and write a cover letter suitable for employer's. It should be very straight forward and to the point. Describe what type of employment you are searching for and some possible history about you previous background in a suitable format.

First off: you can start the opening with an introduction stating your name, how you are replying to the job posting you saw from the site you saw it on. Second: state your experience in the field and the job itself using some the duties listed and your education.
Lastly: Explain how your experience makes you a good candidate for the job. Also include how you look foward to meet with them to discuss it further detail.

Good luck and best wishes

If you're not going to custom-tailor your resume for the job you're applying for (which is an excellent idea, BTW, recommended by most career advisors) then a cover letter gives you the opportunity to pull highlights out of your resume and show how your background fits/exceeds specific job requirements. Remember two facts: (1) the purpose of both the resume and the interview is to answer the company manager's question: why should I hire THIS person, and (2) everyone who reviews your resume (the HR person filtering resumes and the actual hiring manager, wants to get their answer as quickly and as easily as possible - the cover letter is to encourage them to read the whole resume. The you make your "application" match the job they're trying the fill, the more likely you will be to GET the job. You need to do as much research as you possibly can to find out what they're looking for. They it should not be so hard to write a cover letter telling them how you are the ideal candidate.

Ignore what Mr Shertzer is saying. He obviously hasn't experience in either HR or as a hiring manager.

Hi, Sharon Easy question - easy answer! You don't! Cover Letters aren't used any more! It's all in the resume! So be sure your resume is up-to-date with all the current resume "trends"! For example: no more street address! Just city and state! Hope this helped and best of luck in your search!!!

Hey Sharon, I am NOT a fan of cover letters! I usually just do a Google search to find ways to write one. You can get specific by adding the type of job you are applying for. And definitely check out the samples so you can get a better idea of what to include. Hope this helps!
