How I started volunteering at #V.O.A.Pomona
I was homeless from Louisiana I've never lived in the streets it was hard for me to adjust to this type environment. After about a week I made up my mind to do something positive so I ran into Mr. REGGIE THE program director after a long conversation he decided to extend services to me.
Volunteer work is good to get back to work. I was unemployed and homeless for over a year. Then got connected to some people who helped. Got in contact with a Temporary Job Agency, but because I didn't work for over a year they almost didn't accept me but because I did volunteer work that qualifies as work and within a week I was getting jobs with the agency. I am now working with a company that originally hired me through that agency
For those who are not homeless but between jobs, volunteer time fills gaps in resumes. Do something nice for your community and help your resume in the process.
