I was being harassed and singled out by an envious and terrible manager for years. I endured it for about 6 years waiting for the day he would leave. He kept me hidden but kept me around for my ideas and skillsets because on many occasions I solved major issues that made him look like a hero and he never gave me credit or mentioned me in a positive light. He took credit for my creations and blamed me for his mistakes and bad decisions. Then one day he left with his middle finger in the air to our competitor and all of the sudden prople took notice of my knowledge and that my predictions were always right and over a two year period I was rising to the top and getting promoted so after 8 years I was finally getting where I would have been many years prior had he not been made manager. after alk the entire department was built around my creations at another Fortune 500 company that they copied. As i was getting my new position he was rehired without warning and became my boss yet again. I tried to put the past behind me but he was obviously upset that I was being promoted so he added a bunch of grunt work duties to my role snd told me nit only was he not going to hekp me in my new role but if I did t like the added duties I could quit. I took on the challenge and endured sabotage and tests by him and a few others that I outsmarted them on. come review tine he admitted I didn't drop any balls and no one conplained but proceeded to give me a 2.5 score in productivity 2.0 being the lowest. He had no valid explanation as he had done this to me since year one. he tried to give me all 2.5s the first time after he took over with only a few months left in the year. Saying he didnt know what my goals were or if I did them so 2.5 was my score. every year he would tell me these things don't matter and its just a stupid drill but giving me high scores would look like favoritism, Then i found out he gets to keep part of the bonus he doesn't hand out and the ligt bulb went off. So knowing i was on to him after my review he compiled avoyt 5 things to write me up on. one being a misspelled word and the other being a date I forgot to copy over to the second page of a preliminary order and in both cases nothing happened to cause issue. The others were lies. So i went to HR who promised to protect me from retaliation...i proved my case and they said he should not have written me up but the corrective or"punishment" plan still stood. I took leave if ansense, hired an attorney since HR fid not protect me from retaliation, they went on the attack. knowing if I won a case against their unfair bonus plan that others would follow suit , So I picked the wrong lawyer who took my money and case after extensive vetting and then did everything to convince me I had no case because I was White and got me a tiny fraction of what I felt I lost over the 10 years he was screwing me. He told me "you cant go back to work for them" which i stated okay I wasn't planning on it. But if he was my attorney he would have said " you will be ineligible for rehire" and explained what that meant. They had mediation without me present which makes no sense also. But i know some law firms are their to intercept your case to mitigate damages to the corporation, line their pockets and expand their firms notoriety. So since an employer cant can't make comments about you when a new company inquires about your past employment they tell them you are "Ineligible for Rehire" which is code for " do jot hire this person he is a bad employee,, criminal or whatever that conjures up in their minds negatively about you. They have blackballed me and I have lost everything because I stood up to him, believed HR would protect me, and trusted an attorney to help me. All because I refused to work under him another day. ...I had witnesses but they refused to interview them. only his teo cronies were asked snd one of them knew first hand but wanted to keep his job. Ket this be a warning how evil wrongdoers are everywhere in the corporate world and Im now dirt poor and unemployable for doing the right thing. I guess they can sue me now. but have nothing left having to use all my retirement over two years of recruiters calling and saying i'm perfect for the job and then refusing to return my calls. Im finally giving up and thought id share this for others to be warned.
