Certainly seems like this is how it is, when you are experienced and know your stuff this is most annoying.

On a more serious note though - professional accomplishments matter WAY more than GPA does. So if you have relevant work/volunteer experience, but still feel nervous about applying because you don't think you have the right paper qualifications --> figure out how to frame that knowledge on your resume so that your experience shines, and APPLY

Haha, I used to be terrified of something bad going on my "permanent record" throughout middle school - which turned out to be a blue folder they handed to ME when I graduated! Nobody else ever saw it!
