Why all the looks but no phone call
I am having a hard time finding a job and I can see that over 100 hiring manager or employers have looked at my resume but no one has called. I am not sure what is wrong is it that I am changing my career to obtain work in the field of my Masters Degree? I have been working in healthcare as a phlebotomist for sometime and now that I'm unemployed I wanted to change career goals and seek work in other fields. What should I do when revisiting my resume, should I lie or is it just no one wants to give me the opportunity?

Is your name spelled wrong? It looks like it might be "LaShawnda"? But the w and the n are switched? Just wondered, you might want to edit your profile if it is spelled wrong.

LaShanwda, are you sending a customized cover letter with your resume? Check the job description for key words you can incorporate into your cover letter AND your resume for each specific position you apply for.
Also, use Canva.com to make your cover letter. Have a really good headshot that you can take so that you stand out in the pile as a FACE, not just a name or number.
Last, if at all possible, try to network in the companies you are interested in applying for work with. Become Facebook friends, Twitter followers, used LinkedIn or other social networking to get to know some people who already work there. They can give you valuable tips and insight, and sometimes, even put in a good word for you.

I have learned its okay to extend your experience. Cause all employers are looking for at least 2yrs and more. I was interviewed for a job and sure I'd get it but they didn't call me.

I'm Curious too! How r u unemployed,in the #1growing field? What happened,did u think u didn't have to put up w someone,or something,since you got,or were getting your masters? Seriously,if u want sound advice,you have to b honest about this sweetie.

No don't liem.that's a rule with a resume. Why are you out of work? There's a huge demand in Healthcare..or did yu quit? Not pointing a finger but maybe rethink this, 1sr,are you willing to move?2nd,if you did quit,I would get the job back if you can, then look for other work. You have to have something lined up before you bail out.But. if you got laid off, there is still huge demand in Healthcare

I get looked at as well but no call. Even the applications that I've applied most you have to do an online application and then you hear nothing. The last two that I applied for online I followed up with a fax just a cover letter introducing myself and my interest in the position and a copy of my resume and I got calls. I'm not sure if these on online applications are even being looked at. It's very frustrating. So from now on if I can find company information and just follow it up with either mail the letter or fax I'm playing on doing that so they at least know that I'm applying.

What are you trying to do now. Job wise.

LaShanwda,
The hiring process can be a long journey, do not give up and definitely do not lie. Have you reach out to a headhunter? Even though you now have a Masters you may need to lower your expectations on the level you start at, to get in the door. The key objective is to get in the door and then work your way up. Good luck on your search.

Nowadays there are to many people out of work looking for work. IT's not what you know, it's who you know! Then again we are in an election year and companies are waiting to see who gets in. KEEP THE FAITH AND GOOD LUCK.
La Shanwda, What field is your Masters in? You"re in AL, have you looked past your borders to other locales i.e. GA, TX or elsewhere? And how about your school alumni association? Networking is essential these days.
