Interview attire for Kroger?

I have an interview coming up as a store clerk for Kroger, and I’m wondering how I should dress for the interview. I don’t want to look too formal, but I don’t want to be a slouch either. Advice, please!!

Good day Robert, I see your post is 13 days old; this post may be mute for you at this point. It's nice to see that there is a company that hosts helpful tips and information on interviewing at their company. (Note a Mr. Sean Brown offered a direct link to that information.) You can't get more direct, helpful information than that. I would imagine, if a company allowed time/expense to posted such tips on the interviewing process of their company, one might gather that positive points in the interview itself would be - 1) Did the interviewee do their homework prior to the interview and locate said information? and if so, 2) What did the now potential employee do with the guidance offered? Good luck Mr. Robert ONLY if you're comfortable doing so, and the timing is right…. Being careful not to be boastful (fine line here) gently bring up what you thought of…. Example: ‘How unique the reference material was’, ‘How you could see it as being helpful to others who might struggle with what appropriate attire for an interview might be.', etc. (Because of course you are confident and comfortable with the clothing choices you made, independent of their, all be it helpful and informative link.)

Not knowing your status I hope you no longer needed that, extended response; however, please provide an update on the link etc. Best regards, Ms. Tony Singer

There is an old attage....go dressed to work. If the hiring manager was short on staff and for your first day wanted to put you to work at the end of your interview, then you should be dressed accordingly. Casual slacks and a clean button down tucked in. No visable piercings, clean shaven, nails clean and short, if you have tatoos cover them until policy is clear, remember you're going to be around food so food safety and hygiene is crucial. I worked for Kroger for 7 years at one of their manufacturing plants. Great place to work, wonderful people, policy and procedure driven and OSHA regulated. Best of luck!

Hi Robert: I agree with Fred. At minimum, business casual: Button down shirt, dress slacks, matching belt, dress shoes. Sport jacket or tie optional but its a nice touch. Hair: If your hair is long or longer than the top of your shoulders, put it into a ponytail. Shave or at minimum, if you have a beard, make sure it is trimmed up and neat. Piercings: I'd take them out if possible. Can put some interviewers off. Cologne or body spray: Minimal (some people are sensitive or may have allergies). I agree with Fred that you want to wear clothing that is comfortable but business-like to the interview. Hope this helps!

I would go for business causal. Find a nice dress bottoned down shirt (white, navy, even plaid) or nice polo style shirt, a pair of khaki style pants & casual shoes like loafers, leather boat shoes.

I alot people may tell you dress to impress but you want to be comfortable. It's not a management position. You will do just fine

I worked at Kroger for 1 day and ran out of there. It is a horrible place to work! I ended up working for Hallmark which serviced that Kroger store and I ended up befriending a lot of workers and they ALL hated their job. They could not wait to get out of there. If you can find a job elsewhere, I would! Sorry to be so negative....just want to save you a lot of grief. Good luck!

My advice to you Robert is to dress business casual No suit. Khaki pants and a jacket. More importantly, dress yourself with confidence Go in there owning this job. Make your future employers feel that you are the right fit. Convince them that You are the one. No luck necessary - you are already the right fit for and you new adventure in life. Believe in yourself. Take care.
