I learned a lesson the hard way
After being unemployed for almost 8 months.... I realized that you can’t take working for granted. I remember working over 40 hours a week, bringing home almost $500 every week. I worked hard because I didn’t have much else to do, didn’t wanna be home with family, all I knew was work. It never dawned on me that when I was complaining about how my feet hurt, and how I need a break, or a vacation.... there was someone unemployed who is qualified to do something they graduated from college for, and they can’t find a job, and they have been job hunting for months... and I am humbled that I was unemployed, and had to make do with lilttle to nothing for months, job hunting everyday, getting turned down from jobs I know full well I’m qualified for.... It showed me another side of reality I wish nobody had to go through.

I know only to well-I am 67 & always worked & now -because of a lie I do not have a job & it is really hard now to get one , BUT-GOD ! & I know HE will not forsake me

It Takes a Change of Attitude to get the Ball rolling and find the right job for you. You must like yourself, the company, the Products you represent or Sell... Good Luck, James Watts

Hi Shahad Cheek, This is what I am dealing with now, but it has been over a year for me.

Welcome to the real world, Shahad. I was unemployed at one time for 10 months before I landed a position - and without unemployment! I am currently unemployed again and I hope it is not for that long.

I've been out of work since November.

Shahad, unemployment is 4% which means it's a candidates market. What type of job are you looking for?

I think everyone should have a side hustle. Another income that can supplement your weekly income. If you follow Dave Ramsey - Financial Peace, he always recommends this. Do something you are good at. My husband likes to fix things. I like to resell good quality clothes. Use the skills you have. Bookkeeping, mechanics, making things, delivering pizzas, babysitting, etc. Everyone has something they love to do. When you figure it out...use it to make an extra income.

Great lesson learned. I believe a lot of people who had never been unemployed lost their jobs during the recession 2008-2014. That was terrible. Thank God the economy is better and now companies are hiring again. May be a good time to go back to school or starting a new career. Hoping you find a new job soon.

I'm not in a good place with my job right now, commuting up to 6 to 8 hours a day on top of working 8 to 9 hours a day but after reading your story, I'm going to appreciate this job and be thankful for as long as I have it. I pray your job situation improves.
That is a hard lesson to learn. Sounds like you grew from it though so that's good.
