I've spent 11 months taking care of my sick mother, what should I put on my resume???

In Jan 2015 my employer let me go as they were downsizing the business. A little before being let go, my mother had been diagnosed with neuropathy, causing her pain to even walk. For the past 11 months I've stayed home with her, providing at home care. Originally I considered just leaving an 11 month gap on my resume, but, I don't know if I should list this.

You should put the skills you gained from taking care of your mother on your resume.

You can put:

Demonstrated patience as a skilled caretaker, supported patient with homecare needs motivated patient with encouragement and support

etc.

Here's some action words you can use to describe what you did on your resume: https://www.themuse.com/advice/185-powerful-verbs-that-will-make-your-resume-awesome

Hi Tara: I absolutely would list it! List yourself as a home care aid on your resume, and get into the details about the services you provided. Don't explicitly say it was your mother on your resume (that can wait for the interview); just refer to her as you would any other client.
