I want off disability
I need help I need advice. I have stage 4 C.O.P.D and I am on oxygen. I had a job I loved but due to health I had to go on disability. I didn't want to stay on disability so I chose a career that I could stay at home and work. I went to Rasmussen for Graphic Design. I was very excited. Well they decided to stop the program leaving me only with an associates degree. In this field you need a bachelors degree. So I tried to continue my education elsewhere but come to find out Rasmussen's Graphic Design program was not at all what it should be. To start at another school I would have to take 8 classes that Rasmussen didn't have before I even start the Bachelors degree. By the time it was all said and done my student loans would come to almost 95 thousand dollars. I couldn't justify that for a job that pays about 45 thousand a year. I have applied for non labor jobs but they all pay less than I get on disability. What can I do to make a decent living while on oxygen?

. I understand that you would rather work but with COPD this condition only gets progressable worse over time. You may be better off staying on disability and find a part time job that you can work from home. I believe there is a maximum you can make a month before you lose it. Best of luck luck to you!

Sit home on disabiliy and find a part time job. You can make about a 1000 a month with ssd.

You have learned and ARE correct, Technical Schools RARELY TRANSFER To a bachelors degree. Their qualifications & standards are different. USE your resources. I agree with Ms. Deborah Cohen regarding using the ALA to see if they can help employment with your disability. Back office type work can pay pretty well. Options include Scheduler, Human Resources... Explore your interest.. take interest & personality tests available at unemployment office or ALA can direct you. . I will keep you in my “happy thoughts” for your success

First get a portable oxygen delivery system like innogen. Next check with the local chapter of the American Lung Association to find local support groups and opportunities. You may want to check with a career coach to find an area where you have skills and interest. Sorry to say that Graphic Design has never been a good choice unless you are really talented. I wanted to be a commercial artist when I was young and I was talked out of that one real fast! You seem to be able and willing to work with computers, There is a huge demand for that.

Pray for GODS Healing i was healed of Cancer Carpel tunnel and the list goes on!!!!

I understand your frustration. Education is getting more and more expensive. Sometimes we have passion about what we want to do, however, reality does not turn out to be this way. You have to be strong. There are some jobs allowing you to work from home. Use Google or some work search website, such as ziprecruiter, or linkedin,to search "Work from home". There are jobs asking for bachelor's degree and know English. (Be careful about scam) Good luck and wish you the best!
