Front Desk Agent at La Quinta Inn

Scam Artist

I applied on ZipRecruiter for many positions but one in particular that said Office Assistant like many others out there I received an e-mail two days later from the day I had applied.A Mike Tencredi emailed me saying Thank You for sending us your resume but think and believe that you will make a great candidate for the position. He then proceeded to send me a questionare composed of 7 questions,I answered them all successfully. The good news was I got hired as his Personal Assistant at $25 dollars an hour all sounds great full time work grom home mostly. He then proceeded to send me a check worth $2960.50 this would cover a $300 sign on bonus for myself plus the rest would cover work materials such as a Computer,Copier, ect ect.He even sent me a tracking number all seems too good to be true and very legit.I received the check and tried cashing it at various places, when I tried a Branch they took the check from me because the check is a fradulent check I was so scared and worried cause I had been on contact with Mike Tencredi up to yesterday when I told him to give me a call that the check had been taken away and that what should I do.I just didnt want to be held responsible for it.Im glad I didnt get arrested it wasnt even about the money it was all about me having a Job.Now I am worried about applying on line apps like ZipRecruiter and others.Does anyone verify these Companies or Employers. If anyone out there is on ZipRecruiter be careful its Mike Tencredi The Scam Artist Now he wont even answer any of my emails.

Administrative Assistant at Express Employment Bartlett Tree Experts

I have been scammed like this also. My bank kept the check that was sent to me and told me that they would contact the Sheriffs Department to file a report. I gave the teller all of the information I had. Come to find out the guy I was talking with was in India. I try and warn everyone about these. It hurts when you have been looking for so long and something like this comes along and you really want to believe it is true. Like my grandma use to say "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." Take care everyone.

I also had this happen to me but it wasn't from ZipRecruiter. They also kept the check I was trying to cash. Yes. I was scared as well because I was honestly trying to get a job. Future reference, jobs like that are no good what so ever. Glad you wasn't arrested and it was more of a learning experience. Next time check for a credible website it's possible the day you were using ZipRecruiter the site could have been hacked.

You have just been scammed with a variation on the excess check. The scammer sends you a check for more than the required amount, tells you to apply the check then send the surplus back to him/her. some time later the check bounces , and you are out the money. Be thankful the bank spotted the check for what it was, before it was deposited to your account.

Johana, I'm so sorry that the job itself didn't work out. But it sounds to me like you avoided a potentially disastrous situation! Make sure to keep an eye out for any and all red flags in the future and always go with your gut!

Hi Johana. I too was scammed using ZipRecruiter and I found out that many other people were as well. Are you interested in suing them?

Now this asshole has changed his name to Bill Slade and I have another e-mail from Edward Glittner, did he ask you to cash the check and send any of the money back? Usually that's how you know it's a scam. They'll come up with some lame excuse as to why they can't access their own money. I had a feeling this wasn't legitamate. I haven't even received the check.

I think this sounds what's happened to me. I was an offered a job from Internal. It has a website and everything and looked legitimate. They offered me a job as administrative assistant for $35/hr. The interview was just through chat. He said the office wasn't available so it would be an online position until it's set up. They told me they would send me a check for work purchases. I interviewed with a man named Timothy Perry. Do you think this is a scam?
