RETIRED
Employers today are reluctant to give a reference for fear of law suits. Many/Most will only confirm xyz was an employee and confirm the dates of employment and salary and if a person is eligible or not eligible for rehire. In many cases the person requesting reference information on a past employee must actually state: X says they were employed by your firm from Jan though July, is that Correct?

Unless you have a manager from a previous job listed as a reference, they can't give any other info than the dates you worked there. But that's a good thing. You don't want someone giving a reference you didn't ask for and it to be bad.
