Have been working for myself for awhile but love people and surely haven't forgotten my years of secretarial work. Looks like gap in my employment! ANY SUGGESTIONS?? Thanks Melanie

HI Melanie, Sure- definitely fill out your profile more (can generate resume from it when done). Feel free to articulate what that means to have 'worked for yourself' if it will be viewed legitimately. Also add any volunteer work you have done - and definitely ask past coworkers/bosses or friends to Praise you (get praise button). All of this will fill out your resume more and give employers a better sense of all you have to offer. I actually advocate back-to-work moms highlighting this as well (who is better organized, more caring, harder working than a mom!?!). Good employers understand there area lot of paths in peoples worklives these days. Not having a tradtional work-experience doesn't have to be the end of the conversation - but it will be if you don't offer alternative insight into what you DO have to offer and how you have spent your time in some productive endeavors.
Hope this helps - and thanks for being part of the community! Fred
